Jumping back a little earlier than 14 years, brings us to 2000. It was the first day of high school, and a group of kids stood huddled in the doorway of an Admiral Way retailer in a feeble attempt to escape the cold fall wind, while waiting for their school bus. It was on this corner that we both met, albeit indirectly at first. After school we found ourselves walking the same direction home, but on opposite sides of the street. After the third day or so, I heard a "HEY, why don't you walk on this side?!" I looked up to see Jenni waving her arm, motioning for me to cross over towards her. I knew who she was, because we shared some classes, yet we had never spoken before. I was much more shy back than, and although somewhat hesitantly, I crossed over to her. Jenni was outgoing and bubbly, I was introverted and nerdy. We started comparing our class schedules, joking about some of our teachers, and our friendship began. We became walking home buddies. I had lived in the same house my entire life, and the same was true for Jenni, yet we never crossed paths until that first year of high school. That is somewhat surprising as we quickly learned from our afternoon walks that we lived just two blocks apart. Walking home became the highlight of my day. Over the next few years, we remained walking home buddies and class project partners. it wasn't until a couple years later, on January 19th, 2004, during our Senior year, I worked up the courage to move our friendship to a relationship, began attending school dances and the rest, as they say, is history. We started as walking home buddies, and each year since gets more amazing than the last. For some, marriage marks the beginning of their lives together, for us it's just a continuation. While others were in a rush to get hitched so their lives could begin, we have always just taken our time, and enjoyed each others company. I guess you could say, we're still taking things at that walking pace we started with.
